Tao te ching

Lao Tse

Tao Te Ching scholarship has advanced from archeological discoveries of manuscripts, some of which are older than any of the received texts. Beginning in the 1920s and 1930s, Marc Aurel Stein and others found thousands of scrolls in the Mogao Caves near Dunhuang. They included more than 50 partial and complete "Tao Te Ching" manuscripts.

Tao Te Ching Online Translation The above is the most accurate translation of the ancient classic available anywhere at any price. We are glad to make it a free download for everyone, thanks to special permission from the publisher of Tao Te Ching: Annotated & Explained , which contains much more than just the translation, for those who wish to delve deeper. The Tao Te Ching or Taodejing is widely considered the most influential Taoist text. According to legend, it was written by Laozi , [82] and often the book is simply referred to as the "Laozi." However, authorship, precise date of origin, and even unity of the text are still subject of debate, [83] and will probably never be known with certainty. [84]
