This is the English that teachers use to structure and manage their class and that students use to follow the class and interact either in groups or with the teacher. Class Talk (en/ca/es) has been created by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and consists of a comprehensive range of phrases for CLIL lecturers to use in different classroom situations. The term “CLIL” is generally credited to Professor David Marsh from the University of Jyväskylä, in Finland. CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning. Quite simply, it is the teaching of subjects to students through the use of a target language—that is, a language different from their mother tongue.
